View Full Version : Upgrade tool and database issue

It appears the database is layout differently in 4.0, and not all data
from the previous install is imported over. In 3.x the data is in two
different table fields, in 4.0 it is all in one. TWT import script
only imports one of the tables. This means I have to manually enter product info for all my products, which is a lot of work. Did not TWT know this before?
Is there anyway both fields are imported properly like one would expect.

The upgrade transfers all information over. Do you know what table data specifically you are thinking is not being brought over. You should not be having issues with any of the product detail for sure. By the way, you cannot import data from 3.5 or earlier into 4.0, you MUST run the upgrade.

I did run the upgrade, and not the install. The table that is not
being copied over is the poverview from the 3.5.
So
3.5 --> items --> poweview
4.0 --> products --> ????
That info appears to be lost....

we upgraded from 3.5.1 and half of our product descriptions did not carry over. We need an answer.

IN 3.5.1 there was a product overview and a product detail, the product overview is moved to the description and the product detail was dropped. Where did you have the info you lost?

The info that was in "Product Overview" is lost, it has not been moved to the "Overview" of 4.0. The only thing that carried over is the "product details" section.

looks like the TWT does not have any clue about this?
Our developer wrote me this:
Ok,

the

Now he also said that he wrote you an email and never heard back from you. We need an answer from you ASAP. My developer should not be doing this work for TWT. The updater should work without problems for 3.5 users.
Please reply.

The data is transfered as is so I don't know why he thinks HTML has anything to do with it. If you want to have him contact us make sure he is sending an email to support. I don't see any open tickets regarding anything similar.

Here is the ticket# #ZUD-651356 , he has been waiting for an answer as your guys are "looking into it" with no updates and no replies to questions for over 4 days. Do we have to bring it up here every time we need support?

I just looked and there is no ticket in th system with that number. Do you have the ID right? If you have the email address used I can look it up that way.

The data was transferred over
I resolved the issue by editing the following code to my product_detail.html
<div>$product[short_desc]</div><br>
<div>$product[full_desc]</div>
I cannot remember which one was missing the short_desc or the full_desc
Check your template and you can probably figure it out...just search for short_desc and if you don't find it search for full_desc and add the correct parameter...

In 4.0 short_desc is used for the listing format of products and not tiling. So its not really missing just not used on the detail page.

that script is not a final solution as there is more to it. I believe TWT is already working on this bug. any update is appreciated.

w while ago I predicted a really stable version of 4.0 will not be available before new year based on the word of our developer's review of the code. Boy was I right. TWT was upset that I said that but after months of the official release we still cannot upgrade from 3.5.1 to 4.0 because product HTML does not transfer correctly , supposedly TWT is working on the issue. I check the forum regularly and see other bugs/issues piling up on TWTs lap. Coming back to what I said I still insist 4.0 will not be stable before new year. Prove me wrong please !
Otherwise an update would have been posted for my request which I made more than a month ago.
My developer was so tired with the issues with Sunshop that he suggested pinacle cart a while ago but because I had already paid for 4.0 I said no I dont need it. I am really considering another cart now . Time will show.

The upgrade is functioning perfectly fine. Please read the following post if you think the transfer of data should be different for your specific install.
