View Full Version : News on the final release?

Is there some other news place I should be checking for information on the release of 4.0? I read the news on the main website every day but lately I'm seeing "postponed for one day" up there for several weeks, and "news by the end of this week" still up there in the middle of the following week.
If I'm missing the real place to find the info, please let me in on it. Otherwise can we get an actual update? Or an actual date we will get an update?
I convinced my client to buy a license in anticipation of 4.0 and they're getting fed up with "no idea whatsoever when it will be out because they absolutely refuse to give any kind of delivery date and the landmark dates they give are usually weeks off."
We're like a quarter through our license now and have no product and no idea when we'll get one.
Thanks.

We've made several updates to 4.0 in the past weeks, and have released several RC versions for people to test. Our current goal, is to have the Final version released in less than two weeks.

Just to follow up on what was said already. We released RC 5 on Weds of last week and the news on the final release date was meant for this week. Sorry about the confusion. There is another RC release Friday or Monday depending on progress.

Yes it does as we are getting ready to launch a new TWT site so it hasn't been updated yet. Just keep your eye on the news page and the admin news as it always lets you know if you are using the latest version.

Great to see your updating your website...but why is everyone being left in the dark on the next release of Sunshop. Give us some idea of what's going on.

RC 6 is ready its just a matter of packing it up. So look for it tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest. We did knock out all of the bugs in the tracker plus added a few requests in that were made. And I promise you that as soon as RC 6 is released a date will be set for the final version.

How long after RC6 until the final release?
And I notice that the option/inventory issue is still unfixed in the tracker. Any update on that?

Actually it was fixed in RC6 and the news on the final release will be up tomorrow guys. Finally!
Where can one find that news from yesterday??

That's a good question, Lisa.
I notice that the product pages of turnkeywebtools.com are strangely silent about just what version one might be purchasing: http://www.turnkeywebtools.com/sunshop/

And those of us that purchased our licenses months ago because the final release was supposed to be within a week or two, will our license renewal dates be re-set? I seem to remember something like that being mentioned a few months back.

"...up tomorrow"...that was on 7/8
Your lack of credibility is driving me to other shopping cart solutions.
Sunshop has a very promising feature list, but in past versions the online documentation has been somewhere between sketchy and non-existent.

I also would love to hear some news on the final release. If you say news on the release date will be announced "tomorrow" it would be nice to at least come on the forum and say, sorry we said "tomorrow yet again, but the release dats will not be released as promised"

I wouldn't mind hearing something either. I've been a loyal customer for a while now, and have tried to remain upbeat and supportive in this, but I have to admit that its a bit disconcerting to be consistently left out of the loop.
As I recall, you started on Sunshop 4 in June 2006; it was supposed to be completed around September 2006. Many of us purchased copies of Sunshop (and had clients renew their licenses) on the assumption that SS4 would be completed some time last year. It's now July 2007, and while we've seen the betas and the RCs, we haven't seen the final. Yet, for some reason, TWT had time to revamp its forums and the rest of the site, but haven't found the time to keep us updated as to when we can expect the final release, or can't expect it, or whatever.
Please, guys. Your customers contribute to your success. I'm sure we'd appreciate the professional courtesy of your staying in communication with us — show us you care!

DianeV: Not sure what you mean... the latest release is posted on the top right of the page.
Everyone Else:
We know you are all waiting on the date announcement but we had a minor set back. You will see the post by morning. :)

Hi, Chris. I was just coming back to tone down my post a bit. :(
I don't see a release posted at the top right of the page (although I did the other day). Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place.
At any rate, I'm installing RC6 tonight; hope the final comes before we have to launch. Fingers crossed here.

DianeV,
I share your frustration.

Yes, we were told Sunshop 4 would be released in time for the holidays. When TWT made that promise last year, silly me, I thought they were talking about Thanksgiving 2006, not Christmas 2007!
I have never worked with a group with as little integrity as TWT. I am sure they are all nice people, but you can't depend on their word. I would say they are reliable in one sense.. you can rely on them to not keep, or even come close to, a single target date (unless it involves product marketing... they're pretty good at sending out the "Half off another license" emails).
Even when they release "Final", I am concerned at this point that because of the pressure they are undoubtedly feeling, it will be no more than a beta waiting for US to find the bugs... followed by patch release after patch release.
Frustrations upon frustrations!

i bought two licenses late last year and did so because a post or an email from TWT said that all licenses purchased during this period would be rolled back when final was released. Now I can't find that info and license will be up I'm afraid before final is released.

That is the ONLY reason why I bought the license before the final version!

This has been covered many times but I will touch upon it again.
We have already rolled licenses forward 3 months for EVERYONE about 2 months ago. On top of that anyone that did purchase the license during the time frame when we stated early purchases would get a complete roll back, will still receive that.
acmequiz:
We understand your frustration and we have apologized many times. Other then that there is not much that can be done. Yes, we did underestimate the project size of SunShop 4.0 but from the way it has developed, I for one am very happy we took the extra time to get everything working correctly.

Well, my license is still set to expire in March of 2008, the ORIGINAL expiration date so I guess I must have missed that opportunity. :(

Mine is still set to expire March 07, 2008, so I haven't been rolled forward either. But, I wouldn't expect that date to change until the actual day of the final release...then I expect the 1-yr add-on from that future-date. I'm sure TWT will adjust this as promised, once the final 4.0 is released.

Given the many months of false promises, I also expect my license date to be moved forward from April '08 to one year from the release date of the Final Version 4.
Let's hope the integrity of Turnkey Web Tools will rise to the potential of their software.

We did the 3 months prior to march and the pre purchase deal. Anyone involved in the pre purchase deal will get a full year as promised.
