Status of three promised 4.0 features

Hi Chris,

I have been going through the forums trying to find the status of three new features we have been promised with SunShop version 4.0. I know you have previously answered some of these questions in various postings. I am submitting this new post so that you can give us a quick update on these features many of us are waiting on. Thanks in advance for taking a few minutes out of your busy schedule to address these three questions:

1) How long after the stable version of 4.0 is released do you estimate it will it take to add the QuickBooks integration feature?

2) How long after the stable version of 4.0 is released will it take to get a revised shipping module that will allow us to offer free shipping over a certain dollar amount while restricting the free shipping to only, for example, UPS Ground and USPS Parcel Post?

3) How long after the stable version of 4.0 is released will it take to add the feature that makes it mandatory for an option to be selected before the customer can move forward to checkout? For example, currently if an online retailer using SunShop offers a product in red, green and blue, if the customer does not select a color, SunShop allows them to move forward to checkout. Then the online retailer has to contact the customer to ask what color they want. The only workaround on this now is to preselect one of the colors, but if red is pre-selected and the customer really wanted blue, then it is a big inconvenience and expense to have the product returned and the proper selection shipped. We really need the ability for SunShop to make the option selection mandatory before the customer can move forward. Go to the LLBean web site www.llbean.com and try to buy a shirt without selecting the color and you will get a notice that says "We're sorry, more information is needed to order this item. Please select all options for this item and then continue your order." I have several clients complaining about this shortcoming in SunShop 3.5 and want to be able to tell them when this will be added in SunShop 4.0. We were told this important feature would be added to 4.0, but it does not yet seem to be in the RC 3 version. When will it be added to 4.0?

I agree with #2 quite a bit. I have posted this in Bug Tracker and have seen many people asking for this feature. We really need the ability to assign a free shipping discount or coupon to a specific shipping method. This would really put SunShop ahead of the pack as it is obviously a much needed feature and would help many of us compete with the big eCommerce sites like amazon.com, etc.

Please try to make this feature available in 4.0 final! You’d make a lot of us very happy!

Anything that was listed an upcoming feature will be in soon if it is indeed working or not fully functional. As for the the Quickbooks integration goes we are wrapping that up in time for the stable release. We are working our fastest to get everything packed in but I can assure you we will eventually get to that point. Thanks for your patience.
