I have a client using Internet Explorer who says she's not getting the sound alerts when someone enters the site and requests a chat. She says other sounds are working on her computer and when I test her account the sounds are working fine.

Any suggestions for how I might help her troubleshoot the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Dont believe I have ever heard of sounds not being played in IE. You can try these, but they are only guesses. Does she have sound disabled in IE? Does she get sound on other sites?

If you get sound on other sites, then I am not sure what the problem is. But it could be MIME settings for the media player not playing the WAv files in the browser.

"RING RING RING DING DING DING"

Sweetest sounds I ever heard. I had no sound in IE and to fix the problem I did this:

No Sound in Internet Explorer
Resolution:-
1.Open Control Panel.
2.Double Click to open Sounds and Audio Devices.
3.Click Sounds tab.
4.Scroll down to Windows Explorer, which is present under the Programs events.
5.Select Complete Navigation and Start Navigation.
Click OK/Apply.

REPEAT STEP 5. AND TURN THOSE #$(*# OFF!

Sound will now work in IE for PHP Live Helper (at least it did for me). Appearently this is a Windows bug. I'm using Windows XP.

I could be completely wrong. I just remembered that I also turned on .wav to play in "Windows Media Player". To do this open Windows Media Player, go to Tools:Options:File Types and click the "Windows audio file (.wav)" checkbox if it isn't already checked. Do this first and if it doesn't work, try the other thing mentioned above.

My apologies to MS if they don't really have a bug.
